The Black Halo Racing axle shafts were designed for the serious racer/competitor. The factory axles are prone to breakage at rear wheel power levels in excess of 400 h.p. However, as has been the case with Mazda’s tripod joints, the RX-8′s rear joints are of excellent quality and are capable of withstanding over 800 h.p.

To save you money, BHR has designed an axle replacement set that takes full advantage of the capacity of the factory joints and includes both left and right axle shafts, all 4 flex boots, all 4 boot clamps, and 4 tubes of high-quality grease.

The axles are also black-oxided to prevent rust/oxidation during us and are made excxlusively by The Driveshaft shop.

When it comes to your powertrain the flywheel can be a limiting factor due to it’s mass.  While, at slightly less than 17 lbs., the RX-8 has a lighter flywheel than most production vehicles Black Halo Racing has gone further to develop a much lighter alternative.  Our 9.0 lb. flywheel removes rotating mass in critical areas allowing more power to be translated to the wheels where you want it.

Our flywheel also has replaceable friction faces allowing you to reuse the flywheel if necessary instead of having to buy  a replacement should the need arise.

This assembly provides approximately 80% increase in torque capacity and is properly suited for aggressive street use and moderate track use. The Carbon Kevlar material with its alloy backing matched to a performance pressure plate will provide smooth engagement and extended life. 500 mile break-in highly recommended with this set-up. 300 mile break-in REQUIRED with this set-up.

Stage 3 kit: Segmented Kevlar Disc.

Just like stock rubber brake lines, the stock rubber clutch lines can expand when pressure is applied, decreasing clutch performance and limiting pedal feel. By stepping up to one of Russell’s clutch line kits, your pedal feel for the clutch with dramatically increase while making for solid clutch engagement and firm, positive shifts. In addition, the Russell Clutch Hoses last much longer than the stock OEM rubber lines. EXEDY cerametallic clutches are designed to handle the abuse of high powered modified engines. Our cerametallic friction material can handle much more slippage than stock type disc assemblies without slipping and fading. All cerametallic discs feature spring center dampers to reduce impact and shock loads.
This disc tends to engage quite harshly and chatter a bit.  As such, it is strongly advised to use only as a racing clutch.

EXEDY Racing Flywheels are made from solid one piece billet chromoly steel forgings. They are specifically designed to reduce weight and inertia for better engine response.

Most incorporate special design features to enhance air flow to improve the cooling of the clutch. The ring gear teeth are milled onto the flywheel unlike an aluminum flywheel where the ring gear is pressed onto the flywheel and have the possibility of separating from the flywheel.

For high-powered applications, Exedy offers twin and triple Multi-Plate Clutches. These are designed for hot street action as well as drag, road and rally racing. The twin plate clutches are rated for above 500TQ to 600TQ at FW. The triple plate clutches are rated for up to and over 800TQ at FW (for drag race applications). Twins come with both spring damper discs and solid discs. Triples are all solid discs and not recommended for road use. All of our multi-plate clutches come with a lightweight, chrome moly steel flywheel and the famous purple anodized forged aluminum clutch cover. Depending on the application, we have both strap drive and lug drive models. All have T5001 cerametallic friction materials for extreme heat resistance.
Engine modifications e.g. cam-timing-turbo modifications etc. cause engine pulsation and vibrations. These vibrations can cause clutch rattle when the clutch pedal is depressed by movement on the intermediate separator plate in some applications. These noises will in no way affect the performance of the Exedy Multi Plate Clutch. This rattle is well accepted in the performance industry where engine modifications have been carried out.
